Middle East: A Simple Overview
The Middle East is a very special place. In many areas, you can see very modern buildings and businesses, but you can also find old traditions and rules that have been around for a long time.
Religion, especially Islam, is very important in most of the Middle East. Because of this, laws and customs matter a lot. There are also many famous and holy places to visit, like Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem.
If you want to teach English in the Middle East, it’s good to know that religion and school often go together. Many schools, both private and public, include religion in their lessons. Culture also affects school rules, like whether girls can go to certain schools.
Every country in the Middle East is different, but many places are looking for English teachers. If you have a college degree, a 120-hour TEFL certificate, and some teaching experience, schools will likely be interested in hiring you.
Some countries in the Middle East, like Egypt, Libya, and Syria, have had problems like fighting or changes in government. This can make travel harder. Before you go, check your government’s travel safety website for updates and advice.
